You'd have to look pretty hard into the world of fantasy to find a braver, truer soul than Neville Longbottom. In recent years when the world realized that li'l Neville got totally hot, and Matthew Lewis has joined the comfortable ranks of Harry Potter kids who will always be popular - but could that be taken even further?
In a recent interview with Radio Times, Lewis teased a Harry Potter spin-off about Neville Longbottom:
If it came to it that I was offered that sort of deal – I want to say I’d consider it – but I’d probably jump at the chance, absolutely. I’m not itching, just yet, but I’d absolutely, definitely consider it, and love to be considered for it.This may well be nothing more than a throwaway comment, but to the dynamic hivemind of the Harry Potter community, it raises a few interesting points on how this could work...
1. Alternate Universe: Neville WAS the Chosen One
As all massive Potter fans know, Neville could have been the Chosen One in the fight against Voldemort (more info on that side of things here). It'd certainly make an interesting story to see events unfold with that one vital difference. Knowing what we know about Neville's bravery and loyalty, I certainly think that he could have handled the pressure of holding the fate of the Wizarding World on his shoulders with aplomb...2. Life at Hogwarts - the later years
Now, while I would probably watch a show about Neville and Hannah's nice life, I would almost definitely be watching this alone, so it would be a more viable option to work them into the feverishly-awaited Harry Potter: Next Generation spin-off.
