While we had been gifted for well over a decade with all of the Harry Potter books and movies, I'm an admittedly selfish person. I want more. I'm a fiend and I need to get my fix wherever I can.
Today, that fix comes in the form of some stills from footage never included in the movies from the Goblet of Fire to Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (minus Half-Blood Prince for some reason). Just knowing that there were scenes that I still haven't seen, not even on an ABC Family Harry Potter marathon, kills me.
So, here are some of the stills that I could find, and a bit of background on each one.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Cedric Diggory and Cho Chang being an irritatingly cute couple.Professor Dumbledore explains that Priori Incantatem occurred between Harry and Voldemort because their wands share the same core.
Ron and Hermione find Harry and comfort him after the Triwizard Tournament.
Would we have really learned anything substantial if these scenes had been kept in the film? Eh, maybe not anything too crazy. But we would have gained a better understanding of just how deep the connection between Harry and Voldemort is, and also the connection between Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Maybe not necessary, but definitely still important.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Dumbledore's Army decides to disband after being discovered by Professor Umbridge.
Harry learns even more about Snape's darkest memories when practicing Occlumency (spotted: Lily).
Extended dueling scene in the Ministry of Magic.
Draco sulking after his father is incarcerated for breaking into the Ministry of Magic and his father as an Azkaban inmate.
Harry mourning Sirius' death by the Black Lake.
It's mainly this last picture that I would have like to have seen more of. In the books Harry is absolutely devastated after losing Sirius. I thought that this was an integral moment in Harry's life. He's dealt with loss before, but this was the most direct and heartbreaking yet. To be given the chance to have some sort of real father figure, only to have it taken away from him two short years later was a near breaking point for him. His ability to deal with this tragedy and his struggle to forgive himself ended up changing his character a lot.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
The gang discusses their future plans outside of the Burrow.Remus Lupin asks Harry to be Teddy's godfather.
Viktor Krum and Hermione dancing at Bill and Fleur's wedding while Ron looks on with jealousy.
They even look edited - so why didn't they ever include them in any of the directors-cut extended versions? I remember how stoked I was about the 45+ minutes in the lotr extended version!
